CBE Graduate Admissions Procedures

This information concerns applying as a prospective entering graduate student to the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. The College of Engineering is shared by two universities in Tallahassee - Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A&M University (FAMU). Students must choose which university through which to apply, since your degree will be granted by one of the two universities. Go to the university web sites: www.famu.edu or www.fsu.edu, and make your decision based on the proffered information.

To apply to graduate school, please carefully follow the instructions given below.

Procedures to apply to the Florida A&M University Admissions Office

Information on applying to the graduate program at Florida A&M University is available at a link from the FAMU Admissions web site.

Step 1

Mail Application, Transcripts, GRE and TOEFL Scores, and Application Fee to FAMU Admissions Office.

The following information is to be sent by mail to the Florida A&M University Admissions Office:

  1. Completed graduate program admissions application form.
  2. Two official transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate school you have attended.
  3. Official GRE scores (submit a request to ETS for your scores, and send the scores to FAMU).
  4. Official TOEFL scores (for international students).
  5. Application fee for $30.00 payable to Florida A&M University.

Step 2

Mail Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae, Copies of Transcripts, Statement of Purpose, Publications, and GRE and TOEFL Scores to the Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering

  1. Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae. A resume gives you an opportunity to share information about yourself to the Graduate Committee. It should include your personal data, educational background, working experience, publications, special skills, and professional affiliations and honors.
  2. Photocopies of your Transcripts from all previous college-level academic work. Transcripts will provide the Graduate Committee information with information on your scholastic record for your undergraduate and/or graduate course work from previous colleges or universities attended.
  3. Statement of Purpose. The Statement of Purpose should be between one and two pages in length, addressing your career goals, research interests, and how you have prepared to achieve your educational objectives. Please describe your relevant educational and work experiences in the field of chemical and/or biomedical engineering. If you so choose, please indicate the Department professors with whom you wish to work, or the sub-field (polymers, biomedical, reaction/transport) in which you wish to work.
  4. Publications. List your book and journal publications that are in print or in press. If you do not have any publications, leave this area blank.
  5. Photocopies of your GRE scores, and TOEFL scores (for international students).

Arrange for References to Mail Letters of Recommendation to the Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering

Letters of Recommendation - minimum of three (3).
